Now don't get me wrong I think that these models are a great representation of the SC series but I thought that they were "rare". Or does this just happen to be where rare SC's go to get sold?

Posting habit

Sometimes I feel obliged to explain my posting habit or lack thereof. As I have stated in the Welcome message this blog is simply a large elegant folder for my Lexus picks, a place where I can return and find something that interests me in the event that my memory fails me. If it is useful to others then great, if not I still have my info on file. I have an interest in purchasing a Lexus and this is my somewhat detailed (dare I say anal) way of finding the best value for the cost and cataloging it.

As to posting on regular basis well we all know what "should" be done when in reality life has a way of getting in the way. Short version; I'm busy with my work and sometimes find it difficult to find time to post my latest thoughts.

My simple observation of the Lexus market as I have seen it over the last year is that it is getting slammed just like every other make and model. Pre-owned Lexus are getting slammed on price and the time it takes to sell.
This is a fantastic time to find that auto jewel and and drive away in style knowing that your Prius buying neighbour will still be paying for his ride long after your great wheels have carried you in style and comfort minus the auto payments.

I am selling my 99 GS400, and with my growing family I need to get a larger car (SUV). It has tan leather, NAV, heated seats, 6 disc CD Changer in glovebox. Moonroof, rear spoiler. Its loaded. I have done all the leather treatments, polishing and waxing, etc to keep it looking good. It also has the chrome stock 17" wheels.



Updates and modifications I've made...

Added 05 Tailights - had them professionally done to get orange turn signal to look red.

Added the L-tuned suspension package - Springs/shocks

Also added Magnaflow exhaust, with polished mufflers.

Tinted windows - 20% all around.

Car is in near mint condition ( exterior and interior with minimal wear)

Value cars are not necessarily the least expensive.

One reason the cars on the Club Lexus site are so interesting are the mods or add-ons that owners have placed on the cars. By the description and photos as well as talking to a number of owners one gets the feeling that there is passion to driving these cars and that most of the mods are either professionally done or very close to it by home shop mechanics. When purchasing a GS300/400 that is in excellent condition the chance of getting extras such as HID's, newer wheels, newer steering wheel, suspension upgrades, etc. is a bonus. That is why value is not necessarily price.

The car itself, by the look of the photos, is in great condition and highly likely has been well cared for, the bonus part are all the mods that create the great look.
For a 98gs300 in this market the price is high but therein lies the value as the owner has stated the price with an OBO added on. I will be watching this one to see if there is any action. Is there a comparable on the site where one buys a similar year car and mileage for less money and then adds the mods, I think that the cost would be over the asking price of this fine GS.

This fine vehicle was posted for sale on the Club Lexus site on Fri. May23 and was sold Sat may24. The low mileage and lower price did the trick. This is a good example of grab it when you see it as it will not last long. The price of $36,700 is more often seen on '04's. Great deal for someone.

This vehicle has a number of key features; black colour, 4WD(the ad says 4WD but it might mean all wheel drive as I don't think a 4WD model was made), traction control, tinted windows, V6, 3 litre engine, and if it is a one owner then all the better.

By the way I read that the RX300 had garnered a number of awards in its day:

• Kelley Blue Book gave the RX its Best to Hold Value Award in 1999, 2000, and 2001.^[19]
• Money magazine named the RX 300 the Best Deal on the Road in the SUV class in 1999.
• The RX 300 was Motor Trend magazine's Sport/Utility of the Year for 1999.

99 Sc400 Silver/blk Int

As the title says i have my 99 SC400 for sale....Really nice car, infact i like 99 SC better than my IS350 but need to sell it to pay off the loan for IS. Car is in excellent condition for its age. Its Mellinium Silver with beautiful Black interior. Car is fully loaded for 99. It has Nakamichi stereo system with 12 Disc changer, heated seats, power seats, memory seating, auto tilt 3 spoke steering, perforated power leather seats. Nice wood trim with gated shifter. As you guys know these cars are becoming super rare as 2000 was the last year. car currently has 147xxx miles,mostly highway. Clean title never been in an accident, just got front bumper, hood & rear bumper painted to get rid of little scratches & rock chips from highway driving!! It gets excellent gas mileage for V8!! I have emailed a couple of people that own SC's and asked them their opinion about this model. One of them had seen this car and said it is very clean and in great shape. The other person said that it is the best of all the Sc's on the Club site at this time. The advantage of the 99 is that it has all the stock upgrades such as the new grill, the much improved CD player, VVTI engine and on this one specifically the owner upgraded the seats to newer perforated leather.
I like this car and fell it is a goo buy and even better buy if the owner is open to offers.

Here is a bit of a story; the post was placed on Apr 17 with a detailed description and a very detailed car fax. The first price was $10,500 but within 5 days it was lowered to $9,000. Another price drop came 5 days after that for $8,500 and then the most recent price drop on May 14 at $7,500 after which it sold.
I am thinking that this was a good buy as it was well looked after and a '99.

Here is car that I have not paid attention to but looking at this post for an ES300 I am thinking that this is a good second car or a student car. I will wait and see what kind of action the post gets and see if there is some downward pressure on the price.
